Davao Norte guv back in office after 90-day suspension

TAGUM CITY: After his 90-day preventive suspension, Governor Edwin Jubahib returned to office Monday and urged the employees to continue providing services to the Dabaonons. During Monday's convocation at the provincial capitol, Jubahib was welcomed by employees and several mayors in this province. 'I am now here, and let us continue to bring the services needed by the people of Davao del Norte,' the governor said, who followed two suspension orders against him this year. On April 11, the Office of the President (OP) placed Jubahib under preventive suspension for 60 days. The order resulted from the Nov. 24, 2022, affidavit complaint filed by Board Member Orly Amit against Jubahib for grave abuse of authority and oppression. When he was about to return to his post on June 7 after the 60-day suspension, the OP again ordered Jubahib suspended for 30 days over his direct alleged involvement and use of government resources in a rally against the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative. Following his return, Jub ahib said he would conduct an executive meeting to review the province's remaining budget and ensure that the province's social services will continue and be availed of by the people. 'Despite what happened, we should remain strong and continue to provide services to the people, especially the poor and marginalized,' he said in an interview with reporters.
