Tragic! Car hits 72-year-old grandmother while crossing a zebra crossing, causing her death

Tragic! A black sedan hit a 72-year-old woman while she was crossing a crosswalk, causing her death in front of a village in the Pathum Thani area, even though other cars had stopped to let her cross. Surveillance cameras captured the incident at approximately 10:47 a.m. today (July 26). A woman wearing a white hat can be seen crossing a crosswalk when the first white sedan stops to let the woman cross. However, as she crosses to the far left lane, a black sedan crashes into her with such force that her body is thrown several tens of meters away. There is also a camera on the front of the car that caused the accident that clearly recorded the incident. It shows the moment when the car was driving normally on the far left until it was close to the crosswalk where the accident happened when the woman walked across at close range before the car hit her causing her body to somersault and the license plate to fly off the car. After the incident, Khlong Luang Police Station officers went to inspect the accident at the zebra crossing in front of the Khlong Sam Village, Village 2, Khlong Sam Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. They found the body of Ms. Lamjuan, aged 72, lying dead on the side of the road. Near the scene of the incident, they found a black sedan with the front left hood dented. When the relatives saw the body of the deceased, they cried in grief. Some relatives were dissatisfied with the sedan driver and almost attacked the driver. The relatives had to help protect her and take her away from the area. Mr. Prasarn, Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Village No. 2, a relative of the deceased, gave information that at the time of the incident, Ms. Lamjuan was crossing the road on a zebra crossing to buy khanom jeen, which is a place where accidents often occur because it is a market and a housing project where traffic is heavy. The deceased's house is opposite the market. Normally, there are 2 people coming to the market, but today she came alone, until the accident and her death occurred. Mr. Thaikom, 27, the driver of the black sedan, said that at the time of the accident he had just returned from the province and was dropping off a coworker at Khlong Sam. When he arrived at the scene, he saw the deceased walking across the road from the Baan Ua-Athorn village, so he hit him. He confirmed that he was driving in the left lane at a speed not exceeding 60 km/h because traffic was congested at that time. Initially, the police inspected the scene of the accident, recorded images as evidence, questioned witnesses and the other driver, and reviewed CCTV footage to support the case before handing over the body to volunteers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation to send to Thammasat University Hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. - Thai News Agency Source: Thai News Agency
